timeline
In the night of Sunday there were serious traffic accidents with injuries in Innergebirg. A Carinthian woman crashed her car over an embankment near Tweng (Lungau). And in Leogang (Pinzgau) a Tyrolean landed with his car – on which summer tires were mounted – in a stream bed.
According to the emergency services, driving conditions in the depths of winter prevailed in both accidents.
Crashed 30 meters over embankment
The 20-year-old woman from Carinthia in Tweng slipped her car in slush and fell about 30 meters into a forest. You could make an emergency call yourself with your cell phone. According to the police, the recovery of the injured and the vehicle was extremely difficult. The woman was taken to the Tamsweg hospital by the Red Cross. Her car was totaled. A breathalyzer test by the police was negative.
Tyrolean with summer tires on the way
A 32-year-old from Kitzbühel in the Tyrolean lowlands near the border had an accident near Leogang. According to investigators, he had already installed the summer tires on his car. The man skidded, touched a guard rail and a street wall. The force threw the car back over the roadway and crashed into an adjacent creek. The car came to rest on its roof. The driver surprised, freed himself and alerted the emergency services.
Both drivers not drunk
The Red Cross took the Tyrolean to the Zell am See hospital (also in Pinzgau). The alcohol test was also negative for him, and the car was a total loss in this case too, the police said.
Teams from the volunteer fire brigades in Tweng, Tamsweg, Obertauern, Untertauern, Leogang and Saalfelden were involved in the accidents – to rescue the injured and the car wrecks.
