Portuguese with modest results in qualifying for the Portuguese Motocross GP
The Portuguese who participated in the Portuguese Motocross Grand Prix, which took place on Sunday in Águeda, had a distinct offer in Saturday’s races.
In the MX2 class, for motorcycles up to 250cc, André Sérgio (Yamaha), still recovering from an injury, still closed the field in 23rd position.
Luís Outeiro (Yamaha), the only national representative in the main category, the MXGP, finished in 21st place among the 26 participants, 1.10.313 minutes from the winner, the Dutchman Glenn Coldenhoff (Yamaha).
Pais Jorge Prado (GasGas) was the second closed 09, 2.5 seconds behind the Dutch (Brian Bogers, Spain), also from the Netherlands, to be third, at 4.531.
“I’ve had a good start to the season and a qualifying race is complicated,” stressed Coldenhoff, eighth winner without a championship winner.
The championship leader, Slovenian Tim Gajser (Honda), qualified only in 13th position.
Águeda will host this weekend, for the 23rd time, the Portuguese Motocross GP, the fourth of 20 stages on the world calendar, at the Casarão crossroads.
Absent will be the world champion, Dutchman Jeffrey Herlings (KTM), due to injury.
After the qualifying races for this race, on Sunday there are two Saturday races) in each category, combined results determine the GP winner.
