News | Marseille: Magic System at the Delta Festival
And no, it’s not a joke. Yesterday, the festival posted a fake poster on its social networks as an April Fool’s joke. Magic System was announced alongside Amel Bent, Kylie Minogue, Kassav, L5 or even Larusso. If these artists will not appear in the line-up of this World Edition, the Ivorian group is indeed confirmed. It will load on June 30, 2022 under the Marseille sun.
Launched in 1999, Magic System had its first big success in France with the album Premier Gaou released in 2002. It then went on to hit hits like Bouger Bouger (2005), Zouglou dance (2007), Even Not Tired with Cheb Khaled (2009) , Chérie coco with Soprano (2011) or Magic in the Air with Ahmed Chawki (2014) which served as the anthem of the French football team during Euro 2016 and the 2018 World Cup.
Their style takes its inspiration from the zouglou movement, a popular and urban musical genre born in Côte d’Ivoire in the early 1990s which bears witness to the social realities experienced by Ivorian youth. Magic System loads on the main stage alongside Roméo Elvis, Bigflo and Oli, Polo & Pan and even Vladimir Cauchemar. A hundred new names are still expected.
As a reminder, the Delta Festival takes place from June 29 to July 3 (from noon to 2 a.m., 1 a.m. on Sunday), on the Prado beaches in Marseille where 180,000 festival-goers are expected. 450 student associations and 200 committed actors will also be present in the 10 thematic villages.
