Transmissions in the 40-meter range, voice and digital mode, were also carried out with positive results.
A radio station installed in the Government Palace of the Republic of San Marino and a naval unit of the Navy in navigation, the missile destroyer “Durand de La Penne”, also participated in this exercise.
The radio operator of, after greeting all the radio amateurs present, sent a rescue radiogram preceded by the words “exercise” declared three times.
The messages transmitted with the new antennas built and installed on the roof of the Prefecture of Brindisi by the radio amateurs of the ARI, arrived loud and clear throughout Italy, receiving the compliments of the participants in the radio jersey.
The radio stations of the Prefecture, managed by the ARI radio amateurs, were commissioned by the great radio amateur Giuseppe Zamberletti, Minister of Civil Protection. Since the 1980s and all the Prefectures, the Ministry of the Interior and the Department of Civil Protection have been connected to each other in short waves in the bands of 40 and 80 meters and in local undershirt also in VHF with the COM and COC of the Municipalities of the Province .
The radio amateurs of the ARI can avoid the use of normal telephone networks, in case of serious disasters, they could easily go black out. The periodic “tuning tests” have the purpose of testing and keeping the equipment perfectly efficient, ready to be immediately operational in case of need, at the service of the community.
