EUROPE/SWITZERLAND – European Missionary Childhood Conference on “Holiness”
Geneva (Agenzia Fides) – After four years of “pause” due to the pandemic, CEME – an organization that brings together all the Secretariats of Childhood Missionaries in the countries of Europe – met at the Ecumenical Center of Chateau de Bossey. The members of CEME are the National Directors of the PMS and the National Secretaries for Missionary Childhood in Europe. “The meeting went well,” says Sister Roberta Tremarelli, General Secretary of the Pontifical Society of the Sacred Infancy. “Almost all countries were represented. The theme of all our activities was holiness, a theme that should have been addressed even before the pandemic “. Monsignor John Putzer, First Secretary of the Permanent Mission of the Holy See in Geneva, who opened the works on Sunday, March 27, with a The Holy Mass opened, encouraging participants to be “ambassadors of Jesus Christ” and thanking them for their support of the Church’s commission and commitment to working with children.
Instead, the speakers also presented the theme of holiness from an ecumenical point of view, given the nature of the center where the meeting that ended on March 30 took place, in which those responsible for Missionary Childhood in some countries presented what they are doing and how the Society is doing organized in their respective countries – explained the General Secretary of POSI – the purpose of this conference is precisely to share the realities of the Holy Childhood Society, the material and the proposals for strengthening charism, motivation and belonging to the universal Church”.
The three days took place between prayer, academic contributions, reports from CEME members, round tables, discussions and exchanges and ended with the election of the new President of CEME: Nancy Camilleri, National Representative for the Management of Malta for Childhood and the Designation of Romania as host country for the next conference in 2024.
