Main settlement
The wage settlement in 2022 is a so-called main settlement. That means both wages and working conditions are negotiated.
This year it is high temperature before negotiations begin. Unio, which organizes many of the nursing staff and teachers, requires greater wage growth than industry.
The TBU numbers
What we call the Technical Calculation Committee (TBU) presents an overview of how each year wages have developed for different occupational groups.
This is used as a starting point when it should negotiated on salary.
The front subject model
In the settlements, the parties in competitive industry first negotiate as so-called frontfag.
The front subject model must, among other things, ensure that Wages in Norway will not be much higher over time than with Norway came abroad, so that competitiveness is weakened.
The result for the competitive industry should be so set the framework for the rest of the wage settlement.

The Ombudsman says it was difficult to reach the goal, and thanks Fellesforbundet and Norsk Industri for the cooperation and efforts. He also thanks the government.
– The government has said it is willing to make a financial contribution to the industrial vocational school, and it has been absolutely crucial to find a solution.
If the mediation had not succeeded, 30,000 in the industry could have been taken out on strike.
– We get increased purchasing power
– This has been a long mediation, but it has also been a great and respectful mediation. We have used the time well, says Jørn Eggum, leader of Fellesforbundet.
– We have achieved an economic result which means that we have increased purchasing power for our members, and which means that the industry also does not lag behind in the competition, he continues.
Stein Lier-Hansen, head of Norsk Industri, says it was tough to negotiate with Fellesforbundet.
– There have been many topics related to this wage settlement. It is both further development of industrial workers, a modernization of the work to be able to further train and thus develop some of the world’s best industrial workers, and it has also happened within a framework that I believe our companies can live with, says Hansen.
– But I do not hide, I should have had a settlement that was somewhat cheaper. It is tenths too high, he continues.
Forced mediation in overtime
Fellesforbundet entered into mediation with a main demand for increased purchasing power for its members after two years. The NHO organization Norsk Industri, for its part, called for caution.
The backdrop is the war in Ukraine, which is driving up prices. The Technical Calculation Committee (TBU) recently upgraded its price growth in Norway from 2.6 to 3.3 per cent.
At midnight night to Friday 1. April, the mediation deadline in this year’s frontline settlement expired, and the parties were summoned to compulsory mediation by the national mediator.
On Friday afternoon, the parties asked for help from the government. A letter was sent which, among other things, will handle continuing and further education.
