From April 2 to 30, this contemporary art trail will return to Villeneuve-lez-Avignon. His particuliarity ? There are works in places where you don’t expect them so… You will be surprised to find art in the Euromaster garage, in the La Magie des pains bakery, in hairdressing salons, at the Maison de la presse, haberdashery… Fort Saint-André and Chartreuse are among the places occupied by artists.
There is art in places where you don’t expect it. But there is also an artist in a register where we do not expect her. La Grande Sophie leaves the music for a while to present her cyanotypes at the Hôtel de l’Atelier (5, rue de la Foire). This is the very first time that the singer-songwriter has exhibited her works to the public.
From year to year, the organizers of the Rencontres d’Aubergine have received more and more applications. ” We have some great proposals for this edition, we are very lucky“, assures Éléonore Dadoit-Cousin, the president. We can’t name them all, but go and see Juli About’s participatory work based on “souls and reels” at the library-café Saint-Jean and the delicate work “L de papier” at the Notre-Dame chapel. Lady of the 7 Sorrows. Budding artists, students of the Arts Vivants workshops and the Montolivet school, also exhibit on this theme “What binds us”. Theme that sums up the action of the association since its inception, in the eyes of the mayor, Pascale Bories.
A treasure hunt for children new this year
Éléonore Dadoit-Cousin hopes that the notoriety of the Grande Sophie will attract a public that is not interested in contemporary art. ” Our goal is really to make it accessible to everyone. All the artists have made a cartel to explain their works and all the exhibitions are free“, says the president. New this year: the creation of a treasure hunt for children, which will each time have to answer a question about an artist. At the end of the course, a gift at the end of the course.
The festivities will begin this Friday, April 1, at 6:30 p.m. at Temp’oh (91, rue de la République) then the participants will then walk to the chapel of Notre-Dame des 7 sorrows before finishing at 7:30 p.m. at the cellar “Les Trois bottles”. The organizers are also meeting on Saturday April 2 for a “nomadic opening”. Gathering at 4 p.m. at the Euromaster garage for the parade to leave at 4:30 p.m., accompanied by a batucada, to the Chartreuse. A friendly time is planned in the city center in a second time.
