The Secretariat of State for Labor with responsibility for Relations with AASS and AASS presented and clarified the strategies launched by the Republic of San Marino to deal with the energy crisis
They were presented this morning in the press conference at the Secretariat of State for Labor and Relations with the AASS in the presence of the Secretary of State for Labor Teodoro Lonfernini, the President and the Director of the Autonomous State Company for Public Services ( AASS) Francesco Raffaeli and Raoul Chiaruzzi the energy policies undertaken by the Republic of San Marino to face the energy crisis. A contractual and infrastructural strategy respectively mark a strategy of the policies initiated. As regards the contracts, AAAS signed a multi-year contract with a duration of 6 years a few weeks ago at a price of 43.75 euros MKW / h for gas. As for electricity, AASS closed 53% of the country’s needs for 2023 at an average price of € 158.00 MKW / h. Together with these activities, the Secretariat of State and the SS have communicated the need to work towards an update of the tariff tables, an update that has not been done for some services for 12 years. ‘We found ourselves in unimaginable conditions of schizophrenia and global market turmoil, in a stormy sea.’
With these words the Secretary of State for Labor with responsibility for Relations with AASS Teodoro Lonfernini exhorted. ‘We rolled up our sleeves, didn’t stop and started a contractual strategy that led to important results. Politics must now ask itself how to accompany the effort that citizens are required to make following the adjustment of the tariff tables by thinking about specific measures quickly, with financial instruments to favor families in difficulty as well as measures that help AASS in encourage the splitting of utility payments. Utilities that in any case, in San Marino, remain 96% lower than the Italian ones in the case of gas and 208% in the case of electricity. ‘ The second phase, the strategic infrastructural one for energy resources, sees our company committed to making up for lost time in the country in the implementation and construction of plants. ‘We are defining a system relationship that restores a broad focus on the ability of our country to procure itself also independently by increasing production in the area and to open up to renewable energies such as photovoltaics’, continued Lonfernini. ‘In the report there is a mapping of all the areas available on the territory, public and private, suitable for the installation of systems that guarantee greater autonomy in the creation of resources within us. The goal is to reverse the circular economy of our country. It is a very serious work, these policies sufficient to analyze in depth the problem, say it and implement it. ‘
Francesco Raffaeli (President of AASS): ‘The Board of Directors is evaluating the structure of the financial statements and has deemed it necessary to have a figure who deals with management control. We are also launching an audit and benchmarking activity with other companies operating in the same area as us. Our balance sheet is under control and continuous monitoring in light of the instability of the energy and commodity markets of the last 12 months, an event that has never been witnessed. The contract we signed with ENEL on 18 February at the gates of the war between Russia and Ukraine allowed us to buy gas at a fixed price. This is an important result, work has been done that required a lot of effort. ‘
Raoul Chiaruzzi (AASS Director): ‘All the operations that were carried out were done to secure the company and to ensure the supply of electricity and gas to the country, its citizens and its companies. The results achieved are very good. ‘
