The rate continues to run: in March the rate stood at 6.7% on an annual basis, it had not been so high since 1991. A growth, says Istat, supported by the increase in the prices of unregulated goods. With the assignment to these levels, the burden to be borne by the families will be in annual terms, of over 2,000,000 euros. An increase that is close to the indicator and updated by the National Observatory of Federconsumatori which amounts to +2,354.98 Euros per family per year, on which the higher energy costs and the food sector weigh heavily. This situation is affecting the purchasing power of the Riminesi families of workers and retirees, groups of the weaker but medium groups of the population who have already been tried by the pandemic crisis to slide towards even those positions of real poverty. It should also be considered that our province is at the bottom of the rankings for income from employment and pensions and therefore more exposed to this real price emergency. In the face of such huge increases, extraordinary measures are necessary. What the Government has done so far is still insufficient, because it is above all limited to too short a duration and still linked to the conception of spot interventions, to buffer the most serious phase of the emergency, without solving the problem in structural terms. The country, together with a fairer tax reform aimed at protecting medium-low incomes, needs an overall reform of the control and regulation systems of prices and tariffs, based on equity and the fight against inequality and poverty, with that energy that grows alarmingly. A turning point is needed from the government to provide real support to families, through a reshaping of the system burdens which, often in an unmotivated way, weigh on the bills; as well as the adoption of a mechanism aimed at automatically sterilizing the excise duty on fuels, excluding the latter from the application of VAT. Furthermore, we are once again asking to intensify the efforts in order to prevent the speculations we are witnessing, increasing the powers and possibilities of intervention of Mr. Prices and activating the Prefectures of price surveillance committees, to monitor their progress and misconduct and abuse.
