ITA Airways increases connections between Geneva and Italy
The Italian ITA Airways is expanding its route network to destinations in Switzerland and the route between Rome and Geneva.
Starting tomorrow, April 1st, ITA Airways will launch a new route between Milan and Geneva, as about travel reported. In addition to the twelve weekly flights between the two major financial centers, the Italian airline has the frequency on the Rome-Geneva route and makes it easier for transfer passengers to continue their flight – for example to South America.
Better connection of Geneva to Italy by ITA Airways
So far, no airline has a direct flight connecting Geneva with Milan. Starting tomorrow, April 1st, ITA Airways will change that. They connect the two financial centers with twelve weekly flights. The departure point in Milan is Linate Airport, which is close to the city.
Furthermore, the weekly frequency on flights between Geneva and Rome has increased. Until March 27 this year, the connection was operated seven times a week. ITA Airways now flies the route twelve times a week. These twelve flights also include five evening flights per week. This has particular advantages for transfer passengers who are traveling from Geneva to South America via Rome. Beginning in June, Buenos Aires and Sao Paulo will be added to the ITA Airways route network.
On the other hand, nothing has changed on the connection between Zurich and Rome. The daily flight at 11:00 a.m. remains the only ITA Airways connection between Zurich and the Italian capital.
Conclusion on the increase in the frequency of flights between Geneva and Italy
With the increase in the frequency of the Rome Fiumicino – Geneva connection and the addition of the Milan Linate – Geneva route, the number of weekly flights between Switzerland and Italy has increased from 28 to a total of 62 return flights for the summer timetable. The connection between Geneva and Milan is particularly attractive for travellers, as ITA Airways is currently the only airline operating on this route. However, it remains to be seen whether the frequency of flights between Zurich and Rome will be increased in the future.
