Infrastructures and new agreements to fight the energy crisis in San Marino
The State Secretariat for Labor and the Autonomous State Company for Public Services presented and clarified the strategies launched by the Republic of San Marino to deal with the energy crisis.
They were presented this morning in the press conference, at the headquarters of the Secretariat of State for Labor and Relations with the AASS, from State Secretary for Labor, Teodoro Lonferninifrom the president and from director of the Autonomous State Company for Public Services, Francesco Raffaeli and Raoul Chiaruzzithe energy policies undertaken by the Republic of San Marino to face the energy crisis.
“A contractual strategy it’s a infrastructural strategy they respectively mark the first and second phase of the policies launched – reads a note from the Labor secretariat -. As regards the contracts, Aass signed a 6-year multi-year contract a few weeks ago at a price of € 43.75 MKW / h for gas. As for electricity, Aass closed 53% of the country’s needs for 2023 at an average price of 158 MKW euros / h. Together with these, the Secretariat of State for Labor and Activities communicated the need to work to insert an update of the tariff tables, an update that has not been done for some services for 12 years “.
“We found ourselves in unimaginable conditions of schizophrenia and global market turmoil, in a stormy sea – began with these words the Secretary of State for Labor with responsibility for Relations with Aass, Teodoro Lonfernini –. We rolled up our sleeves, didn’t stop and started a strategy that brought important results. Politics must now ask itself how to accompany the effort that citizens are required to make following the adjustment of the tariff tables by thinking about specific measures quickly, with financial instruments to favor families in difficulty as well as measures that help Aass in encourage the splitting of utility payments. Utilities that in any case, in San Marino, you stay 96% lower than the Italian ones in the case of gas and 208% in the case of electricity“.
The second phase, the strategic infrastructural one for energy resources, sees the Republic of San Marino committed to recovering the time lost in the implementation and construction of plants.
“We are defining a system relationship that restores a broad focus on our country’s ability to procure itself also independently by increasing production in the area and to open up to renewable energy such as photovoltaics – continued Lonfernini -. In the report there is a mapping of all the areas available on the territory, public and private, suitable forinstallation of systems that guarantee greater autonomy in the creation of internal resources. The goal is to reverse the circular economy of our country. It is a very serious work, these policies are sufficient to analyze the problem in depth, say it and implement it ”.
Francesco Raffaeli (Aass president): “The Board of Directors is evaluating the structure of the financial statements and has deemed it necessary to have a figure who deals with management control. In addition, we are undertaking an audit and benchmarking activity with other companies operating in the same area as us. Our budget is under control and continuous monitoring in light of the instability of the energy and commodity markets of these 12 months, an event that has never been witnessed. The contract we signed with Enel on 18 February at the gates of the war between Russia and Ukraine allowed us to buy gas at a fixed price. It is about an important result, a job that required a lot of effort was done“.
Raoul Chiaruzzi (director Aass): “All the operations that have been carried out have been made to secure the company and to ensure the supply of electricity and gas to the country, its citizens and its companies. The results achieved are very good“.
