Dallas Mavs star Luka Dončić ‘organized a show’ for the Slovenian crowd in Cleveland
The Dallas Mavericks toured Cleveland on Wednesday night – the city with the most Slovenians outside Slovenia in the world – and Luka Dončić always gives his people what they came to see.
The second night of the consecutive match, Dončić finished with 35 points, nine rebounds and 13 assists in the victory of the Mavs over the Cavaliers with 120: 112.
“I know that many Slovenes live here (in Cleveland),” said Dončić. “I saw a lot of Slovenians there and it’s always amazing to see their support.
“When the locals are here to see you, you obviously want to put on a show for them.”
Despite wanting to impress the audience, Mavericks coach Jason Kidd admired how Dončić played appropriately in the context of what his team needed to win.

“He wanted to put on a good show,” Kidd said. “Not just the show, but he came to work and he’s doing it.
“He comes to work and we see that every day, missing one jump to the triple-double. He knew when to give up the ball and when to attack. He is currently playing for us at a very high level and we need that. “
With this show, Dončić put an end to the March, which was a master month for him and the Mavericks. Dallas finished 12-4, and the superstar finished with an average of 29.9 points, 9.2 rebounds and 7.8 assists in 14 appearances.
With a win over the Cavaliers, the Mavericks improved to 48-29 this season and contributed to placing third in the Western Conference standings.
The Golden State Warriors lost 107-103 later Wednesday night against the Phoenix Suns, lowering their record to 48-29. As the Mavericks kept the tie, Dallas moved to third place – just behind the Suns and Memphis Grizzlies in the west.
