THE BALL – Foreigners playing in Portugal have already qualified for Qatar (photo gallery) (World Cup 2022)
For now, there are 13 foreign players working in Portugal who have guaranteed their presence in the Qatar World Cup with their respective Qatari teams.
The photo gallery, based on the calls for the last qualifying rounds, includes Mehdi Taremi, a FC Porto forward who has been a regular presence in the Iran national team and who traveled to Meshed, but was released.
It also includes Sporting midfielder Manuel Ugarte, who was left out of Uruguay’s initial list, but ended up being called on urgently to replace compatriot Matías Vecino, who tested positive for Covid-19.
A list that could increase if Roman Yaremchuk, Ukrainian forward for Benfica, and Reggie Cannon, American defender for Boavista, guarantee qualification via the play-offs.
DOUBTS
Adel Taarabt, Benfica midfielder, and Agustín Marchesín, FC Porto goalkeeper, have not been called up to their respective teams for some time, but they will not be names to be ruled out by the Morocco and Argentina teams when choosing a definitive list for the Qatar. The same happens with the Moroccan Zouhair Feddal, Sporting defender, who will have time to resolve or dispute with the coach Vahid Halilhodzic (see associated news).
On the other hand, Lucas Veríssimo, defender of Benfica, had been regularly called to represent Brazil. The occurrence last year occurred on the date of recovery of the grave in the year contracted in November which occurred in November. The Qatar World Cup, remember, will take place between November 21 and December 18, 2022.
