Rauris Literature Days: Prize winner is missing – salzburg.ORF.at
Culture
The 51st Rauris Literature Days will open on Wednesday evening – but without the current prizewinner. Anna Albinus had to cancel her journey from northern Germany for family reasons. Around 20 authors will be reading in Rauris by Sunday.
These include Michael Köhlmeier, Barbara Frischmuth and Teresa Präauer. In 2020 the Rauris Literature Days were cancelled, in 2021 they were moved to the internet and this year there will probably not be any literature days “like back then”.
The audience has to wear a mask and refrain from official social gatherings, such as the planned tour of the exhibition “50 Years of Rauris Literature Days” in the municipal office.
Conversations on the topic “Of animals and people”
Even so, the seat reservations were within an hour of the start of registration. The audience can look forward to five days of readings and talks on the subject of “Of Animals and Humans”. Traditionally, the Rauris Literature Days are opened with the presentation of the two literature prizes.
Governor Wilfried Haslauer (ÖVP) and Deputy Governor Heinrich Schellhorn (Greens) have announced their presence – but not Anna Albinus, who will be awarded the Rauris Literature Prize via video link.
Mesnerhaus as a new location
Alexandra Koch, winner of the Promotion Prize from Salzburg, will receive her award in person – in the Mesnerhaus, the new venue for the Rauris Literature Days.
