Portugal “is not an island or an oasis”, says Marcelo
Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa this Wednesday inaugurated the members of the XXIII Government, the third socialist, in the Ambassadors’ Room of the Ajuda National Palace.
The ceremony began at 5:01 pm, with the President of the Republic swearing in, first, the prime minister, the 17 ministers and then the 38 secretaries of state. One by a hierarchical order, the members called, in a process that lasted about 40 minutes.
In his speech, Marcelo for the “difficult times” alerted the spirit that these countries demand security, stability and unity.
“As in all times of war, pandemic and Russian fireworks, [os portugueses] stability, unity in waiting, in the definitive and refusal of certainty of certainty or secondary security”, said the head of state, who asked not to forget “the lesson of our two years of pandemic”.
Portugal is not “an island or an oasis”, recalled Marcelo, noting that the country is not “immune” to what it can control.
The President of the Republic also left a “notice” to the new Government, which is now taking office with an absolute majority. The Portuguese “gave a majority to a party, but also easy to a man who insisted on personalizing the vote. Now that I’m sure he knows that politically he cannot be replaced by another halfway.”
Marcelo absoluta reiterated that the majority is not synonymous with absolute power, without dialogue with the other countries, stating that the Portuguese “gave an absolute majority, but not absolute power or majority dictatorship and everyone fits in the social dialogue”.
