a class a wood ”born from the Middle School
On Tuesday 29 March, in the area received under concession, from the Secretariat to the Territory, located in the “La Ciarulla” area near the shooting facility, the planting of the first 700 plants of the “Il Forest that will come ”, conceived and promoted by the San Marino Middle School. In the plantation operations 23 classes of the two sites of Fonte dell’Ovo and Serravalle were directly involved. Plants of several native tree and shrub species have been planted to create an area with high biodiversity. This first realization will also give indications on the species with the best chances of engraftment. The tree species used: downy oak, ash, oxyphilus ash, field maple, minor maple, tamarisk, hackberry, holm oak, wild pear, wild apple, myrobalan, rowan, medlar. Shrub species used: broom, dogwood, blackthorn, sea buckthorn, dog rose, cervino thorn, lentage. The choice of species was also dictated by the availability of forest nurseries. Now we look forward to a favorable seasonal trend! Like everyone else, in the countryside, we await rains that favor the taking root. However, some efforts are being made to guarantee some emergency irrigation interventions. The project, lasting at least three years, will also continue in the following months. In the near future it is planned to intervene with the autumn of the seedlings that have not taken root, and the identification and intervention and preparation for the planting of a new area. The ones that have been collected and that will be collected, will be used for the purchase of forest plants, technical means, and to repay some maintenance interventions such as irrigation. The start-up and implementation of the project were made possible thanks to the contribution of the families and pupils of the Middle School but also to the donations received from some companies and associations of the Republic: CSDL, TITANKA spa, BP Holding – Overwiev, Med Cartotecnica srl, Dealership Reggini Spa, Bioagrotech srl, Agrigarden srl, Energreen srl, Consorzio Terra di San Marino. We also thank the Secretariat to the Territory for the concession of the land, the UGRAA, the AASLP and the Shooting Federation for the precious logistic support.
