“One can only praise what is being done here. It is exemplary in every respect. They work 14 hours a day every day to ensure perfect logistics. The refugees should be well accommodated. They should be transported quickly and safely All of that was done here.”
He came to Cologne to thank the 25-strong team. But also to appreciate the work and to get to know the team in the situation center.
Be prepared for anything
Wissing assumes that Germany will have a special task if there is another large wave of refugees from Ukraine. The capacities of Poland are now limited. Around 10,000 people from the Ukraine are currently coming to Germany every day. In Poland it was up to 120,000 at peak times. At the moment the numbers are still moderate. You can distribute people well and quickly there, according to the Federal Minister of Transport. But if the numbers increase massively, there should be joint agreements. It then requires a different kind of clout. You had to be prepared for that.
