Weather: African dust covered Athens – “30 arias are coming in the coming days”
An unusual five days with African dust is expected by Saturday
Significant quantities of African dust have “covered” many parts of the country, including Athenawith experts warning of one unusual five days until Saturday.
According to the forecast model of dust transfer of the National Observatory of Athens / meteo.gr, the prevalence of southerly winds during this period results in the continuous transport of African dust to our country.
Prolonged transport, although not unprecedented for the time, is not a common phenomenon, since dust transfer episodes usually do not exceed two to three days in duration.
Among the main effects of the phenomenon will be:
- The merging of the temperature found in the following days.
- limited visibility in places.
- The occurrence of mud rains from Thursday onwards, when phenomena are expected mainly in the western and northern parts of the country.
The following video shows the transport of African dust to the country until the evening of Saturday 02/04.
