DOCTORAL RESEARCHER (early stage researcher)
Our research focuses on the intracellular transport and metabolism of major membrane lipids, such as cholesterol. The task is related to the European Union-funded EndoConnect research project. Applicants interested in cell-biological approaches to basic biomedical issues are particularly encouraged to apply.
The applicant must have a master’s degree in a field related to the research topic. Relevant disciplines are molecular cell biology, biochemistry, molecular genetics, and biophysics. As an early-stage researcher, applicants must have completed the first four years of their research career and do not have a doctoral degree at the time of recruitment.
Other prerequisites are the ability and motivation to complete postgraduate studies previously demonstrated or otherwise, and the Doctoral degree in accordance with the study plan. Previous research outputs, such as publications or laboratory experience in relevant disciplines, are not required, but are considered merit. Applicants are required to work independently and have good communication skills in English.
At the time of recruitment, the person appointed must not have lived or practiced his / her main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Finland for more than 12 months during the 3 years immediately preceding the reference date.
The nominee must either have the right to complete a Doctoral Degree at the University of Helsinki at the beginning of the appointment or apply for the right and receive it within six months of his or her appointment. The appointment will last for 30 months according to the agreement, but no later than June 1, 2022. A probationary period of 6 months applies. The exact salary will be confirmed at the appointment and will include income support, mobility allowance and family allowance (if special requirements are met).
