Card. Dziwisz: Krakow to the city of saints, although it is not holy itself
Krakow is a city of saints, although the city itself is not holy. For it to be holy, you need prayer – said Cardinal Stanisław Dziwisz, who presided over the station liturgy at the sanctuary of St. Albert’s Brother “Ecce Homo”.
At the beginning of the liturgy, Sr. Teresa Maciuszek, Superior General of the Albertine Sisters, quoted a fragment of the New Prayer to Christ the Suffering Ecce Homo, which will begin in two days at the Shrine of St. Albert’s brother. The sister announced that during the Holy Mass especially intentions will be prayer for peace in Ukraine, for faith for those who suffer because of the war, who have lost their students.
The liturgy was presided over by Card. Stanisław Dziwisz. At the outset, he stressed that the Ecce Homo sanctuary is today the current point on the map of Krakow – it is Krakow’s “stopping” to pray for the city. The metropolitan of seniors, note that Krakow is a holy city, although the city itself is not holy. – For it to be holy, you need prayer – he emphasized.
In the homily, Cardinal Stanisław Dziwisz thanked the Albertine Sisters for hosting the late card. Franciszek Macharski, who during this period lived his last “statio” on the earth’s path to God in the years 2005-2016.
Metropolitan senior at the figure of St. Brother Albert and Bl. Bernardyny Jabłońska, they helped each other in the place of conversion, because “holiness lies in the fact that man discovers that he is not yet fully following Christ”. He drew attention to the heroic act of offering himself to God, compiled by Br. Albert for Bernardine: “I give the Lord Jesus my soul, mind, heart and everything I have. I offer myself to all doubts, internal dryness, torments and spiritual torments – to all humiliation and contempt, to all bodily pains and diseases. And for this I do not want anything now or after death, because I do so out of love for the Lord Jesus Himself. Amen”.
The cardinal added that Jacek Krawczyk, whose beatification process has just begun, is this prayer. – It follows that even in times this army helps on the basis of our Christian life. We wanted our way to be – said the older sister and encouraged the Albertine sisters to continue to pass on to people this act of offering herself to Christ in heroic times, because “we need one in our people”.
Another City of Card. Stanisław Dziwisz was counting after God’s word. Following the prophet to pay attention to the ultimate goal of the earthly journey. – Sometimes we are so busy with this world that we forget about the world of God to which we are going – said the cardinal, and under the psalmist he emphasized the attitude of trust, and the Gospel for God – the transition to faith.
After the liturgy, Card. Stanisław Dziwisz met with refugees from Ukraine who live in the Ecce Homo sanctuary.
