the obligation to register with the Reve is triggered. Exception for San Marino
New rules from last March 21 due to the changes to Traffic lawsmade by Italian law n. 238 of 23 December 2021. It becomes operational on Reve, the Public Register of Foreign Vehicles: in general, net of some exceptionsfor all motor vehicles, motorcycles and trailers registered abroad that circulate in the Italian Republic theobligation to be registered precisely in the appropriate register. Vehicles that are available for a period longer than 30 days – even non-continuous – in the calendar year of people residing in Italy.
In practice, with the new rules a person other than the holder of a vehicle registered abroad he can no longer drive it within the Italian borders without having a document signed by the owner on board which shows in what capacity it is available (rental, leasing or loan), from what date and for how long. There are however – as anticipated – some exemptionsamong these there is one that expressly states: “no obligation – it is stated in fact concerns – for drivers residing in Italy for over sixty days who drive vehicles registered in the Republic of San Marino, in the availability of companies based in the San Marino territory, with which the drivers are linked by a subordinate employment relationship or continuous collaboration “. To date, however, no official communication on the news has come to the attention of theVehicle and Transport Registry Office of the Titan.
