Marseille – Will Constantine be sired in April?
Since the partial reopening of the Algerian borders, the 1uh June 2021, only three airports are open to international traffic. These are Algiers, Oran and Constantine. Of the fifty or so scheduled flights between Algeria and France, the majority are carried out between Algiers and Paris.
Air Algérie has 24 connections per week in its programme. It operates 23 in Paris, including 9 from Algiers, seven from Oran and seven others from Constantine. Air France is also concentrating its authorized commercial flights from Paris to Algiers and Oran.
France – Algeria: flights concentrated in Paris
On the flight slots between Algeria and France, airlines have chosen to operate in cities other than Paris, like ASL Airlines, which serves Algiers from Lille and Lyon. Transavia operates from Lyon and Montpellier to Algiers.
For its part, Vueling operates from Marseille to Algiers. Volotea, the latest airline to join the Algeria-France flight market in December, chose to serve Algiers from Bordeaux and Oran from Marseille.
It was also planned to run flights to Constantine from Marseille from February, but the program had to be postponed several times for lack of authorisations.
Volotea sells tickets for Marseille – Constantine flights
However, Volotea continues to sell Marseille-Constantine tickets on its site and thus exposes its customers to confusion since these flights are not yet authorized by the Algerian government.
A user who bought a Marseille Constantine ticket wonders if the flights are confirmed and authorized by the public authorities in Algeria. Volotea would have told him that these flights were indeed confirmed.
Does the low cost company anticipate an increase in flights? For the moment, no one knows what the program will be, especially since the Ministry of Transport has recently distinguished itself by two reversals concerning the increase in flights precisely.
