Everton striker Anvegård misses international service with Sweden due to injury
Everton forward Anna Anvegård will miss international service with Sweden next month as a result of her ongoing recovery from a concussion.
The 24-year-old last played for his club in their 3-2 victory over Leicester City at Walton Hall Park a couple of weeks ago. Anvegård has recently received a blow to the head and Everton are carefully handling her recovery with the player who has previously suffered a similar injury.
Sweden’s head coach Peter Gerhardsson has today named his squad with 26 players for next month’s FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023 qualifiers against Georgia and Ireland, but Everton striker Anvegård is a remarkable absentee.
Anvegård’s Everton teammates Nathalie Björn and Hanna Bennison have been included in the squad, while the Chelsea trio Zećira Mušović, Magda Eriksson and Jonna Andersson have also been included. Emma Kullberg (Brighton & Hove Albion), Filippa Angeldahl (Manchester City) and Stina Blackstenius (Arsenal) are also in Gerhardsson’s squad.
Sweden travels to Gori to meet Georgia on Thursday 7 April before we welcome Ireland to Gothenburg on Tuesday 12 April. The Swedes have so far won all five qualifiers for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023 and look confident to qualify for the tournament finals.
