Conor Coventry pays tribute to “class” Troy Parrott ahead of Ireland’s crisis U21 Sweden settlement
Big praise to Troy Parrott.
Irish U21 international Conor Coventry has paid tribute to his club and former international team-mate Troy Parrott.
Parrott and Coventry have combined excellently at club level this term with MK Dons, leading the League One team to an unlikely promotion attack.
And they seem to be in a great position to secure their return to the Championship, thanks to their sensational start to 2022.
“I’m not surprised at how good he is …”
Notably, from an Irish perspective, Parrott has been in great shape, although the goals have not been as easy to come by.
But his commitment to the team has helped considerably, with Coventry pointing him to praise.
“Troy is class,” Coventry explained. “Of course I played with him before so I know his quality.

“I’m not surprised at how good he is. The way he has worked for the team has been incredible, and it shows that he is still developing and learning.
“He’s a quality player and I’m just happy to play with him every week.”
Conor Coventry: “It would be incredible to qualify …”
But at the moment, Coventry is on a different team than Parrott, and is involved in Ireland’s U21 squad, with his teammate involved in the senior team.
And on Tuesday night, Ireland U21 will meet Sweden in an important European qualifying match at Boras Arena, where Ireland hopes to secure their place in a first major U21 final ever.
“It would be incredible to qualify,” Coventry added. “I see how hard all the staff work with the style and how much it means to the guys.
“We are such a close group and it’s not the boys, it’s the staff too. We love to get away and be together.
Congratulations to @conorcoventry which was presented today with its @CRISClubs Ireland U21 POTY Award for 2021 👏🏆🇮🇪

“Anyway we can extend it will mean so much to us, nonsense in history, which is obviously also huge. But just like a unit and the bond we have here, we just want to keep at it.”
Kick-off on Tuesday night is at 17.00 and will be broadcast live on RTE 2. The broadcast starts at. 16.30.
