The first “Veronese Baroque Week” kicks off on Tuesday
The first edition of the Veronese Baroque Week is ready
Spread the great baroque repertoirethat in addition to the pieces of the most famous Monteverdi, Vivaldi, Händel, is hidden among the staves of less known or more rare authors, offering pages of equal beauty, at the same time enhancing the emerging talents of the territory.
This is the double formula contained in the first Veronese Baroque Weekon the calendar from 29 March to 2 April at 8.15 pm, in the splendid Sala Morone di San Bernardino (piazza S. Francesco 4, Verona), with five concerts of the highest organizational level from the Kairòs Academy of Training and Artistic Experimentation.
A new project, dedicated to the city of Verona and baroque musicfrom the compositions for voice and consort of viola da gamba, to the sonatas for mandolin and basso continuo, from the virtuosic cantatas of the “Canterine” to the repertoire for two violins, to conclude with some of the most beautiful pages of Handel’s Roman period.
Among the interpreters of the Veronese Baroque Week, well-known artists and young professionals who collaborate with some of the most important orchestras and baroque formations (Il Pomo d’Oro, Europa Galante, the Lira di Orfeo …), together with the most talented students of the Department of Ancient Music of the “Dall’Abaco” Conservatory of Verona.

“After almost two years of online activities, due to the pandemic, returning to putting the vocation of producing musical culture at the service, both of the younger generations of artists themselves (who, in addition to the pleasure of performing, thus find new opportunities for insertion into the world of the artistic professions), and of the general public, who remained away from theaters for the same amount of time, also means participates in the social and civil growth of its community“, Comments the president of Kairòs, Paola Fornasari Pattiamong other things, award-winning mezzo-soprano, trainer of the same academy, lyric singing teacher at the Verona Conservatory, and founder of the successful Festival of Contemporary Arts.

The newborn Festival also enjoys the artistic contribution of maestro Alessandro Quarta, specialist in the Baroque repertoiresince 2019 teacher of ensemble music at the Department of Ancient Music of Dall’Abaco in Verona.
The hope is that this first edition, «will be the first stone on which to place a project of greater breadth, that is forage, that is, important synergies and partnerships with other valid Verona realities, engaged in a high quality artistic and cultural offer. Verona Baroque Week, the concert program
Tuesday 29 March 2022, “Le canterine” (Arias, cantatas, motets with 1, 2, 3 sopranos in 17th century Rome, from Monteverdi to Frescobaldi and Carissimi), A sound journey into the Roman aristocratic palaces in which the famous “canterine” (excellent virtuosos) entertained and amazed the audience, interpreting the pages of the greatest authors of the time, true vocal frescoes, sound counterpart of the visual amazement of the Eternal City of those years .
Wednesday 30 March 2022, “Pizzicar d’affetto” (Sonatas for mandolin and continuo of the Italian eighteenth century). Tribute to the refined literature for mandolin made in Itlay, with special guest Davide Ferellainternationally renowned interpreter, who will perform a mandolin repertoire, partly unpublished, proposed in a curious sound guise, all plucked.
Thursday 31 March 2022, “Ostinati, arias and follies of the Italian Baroque” (Music by Uccellini, Merula, Marini, Falconieri, Vivaldi). A whirlwind path in the repertoire for two violins, from the Italian seventeenth to the eighteenth century. Theme: variations and stubborn bass. A selection of the most beautiful pages in a transversal balance between cultured and popular, intellectual and visceral.
Friday 1 April 2022, “And I got up one beautiful morning”(“ Cantar e sonar sulla violas ”- 16th century flower garland for voice and consort of violas: Rore, Dowland, Tromboncino, Attaignant).
Saturday 2 April 2022, “Handel and Rome”, Songs and duets from the most exciting period of Handel’s life.

The Kairòs academy
The Kairòs Academy of Training and Artistic Experimentation is a non-profit association founded in Verona in 1996, which in parallel with the training course through internships and high-level masterclasses, is distinguished over time for a vast production of exhibitions and events of accredited artistic importance.
The courses and events are organized by mezzo-soprano Paola Fornasari Patti, lyric singing teacher at the “EF Dall’Abaco” Conservatory of Verona, with a formula aimed at involving the individual in his or her psychophysical whole, whose validity has also been tested on the field, extending its applicability also to the repertoires of opera, baroque, contemporary music.
Alongside this intense didactic activity and theatrical training, the Kairòs Academy has committed itself, in its 25 years of activity, in the organization of musical performances (opera, musical, variety, theater, sacred), involving students and artists in the international art scene, and creating them opportunities and opportunities for work placement.
This method has meant that other artists of consolidated fame, have gradually wanted to join the projects of the experiential academy and enhance them with their own and sensitivity.
Among the latest reviews by Kairòs: “Un Posto a Teatro” commissioned by the Municipality of Verona; “Seize the day, defend and support art”, Kairòs campaign favored by culture; “Festival of Contemporary Arts”, dedicated to the diffusion of contemporary music in collaboration with the composer Andrea Mannucci, professor of composition at the Verona Conservatory, and the Ned Ensemble of Desenzano.
There are also many participations in national television broadcasts, and collaborations such as the one with the maestro Marco Tutino for the musical “The cat in boots” and the Opera della Filastrocche by Virgilio Savona, for whose revision Casa Ricordi granted her the rights.
