A motorcade drove from Cologne to a Soviet memorial on the new cemetery in Bonn-Lessenich this Sunday afternoon. Police believe there are several hundred vehicles. “The action is related to the Russian attack on Ukraine,” the police said. According to the current state of knowledge, a police spokesman is likely to be a pro-Russian rally. Many participants hold Russian flags out of the car windows.
The participants wanted to drive from Cologne via country roads and the B56 through Bonn city center to Duisdorf. The vehicles gather in a parking lot there. At the new cemetery in Lessenich, the participants then want to lay wreaths at a Soviet memorial. There are significant traffic delays in Bonn city center as well as in Duisdorf and Lessenich. The police accompanies the parade and also uses a helicopter. Some people have also gathered in front of the Russian consulate in Bad Godesberg-Schweinheim. Around 20 vehicles were parked there. Assuming the police are there as well, they are connected to the motorcade. Cars with Russian flags can also be seen in Godesberg. These are heading towards the consulate.
