Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s new punchline
At the end of his contract with AC Milan next June, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is about to complete the 23rd season of his very long professional career. At almost 41 years old, the Swede of one meter 95 will go to the end of his commitment with the Italian club for which he largely participated in its reconstruction.
Asked for the UEFA.com site, the “Z” retraced the key moments of his career: his childhood in Rosengard, his youth idols, including Ronaldo Fenomeno, etc. The striker came to talk about the League des Champions, one of the few competitions that he misses on his list. Regarding his future, the giant even allows himself to drop a ‘punchline’ of which he alone has the secret.
“I think it’s an incredible competition. How do I feel about never having lifted the trophy? In two ways. Winning it would be amazing. Not winning it wouldn’t change me as a player. If I win the C1, that would not mean that I would be a better player because I am the best. It has been proven, the best player does not win everything. (…) The future remains to be written. I’m not planning, we’ll see what happens. I don’t want to regret quitting football and then saying I could keep playing because I will regret it all my life. I want to play as long as possible. The reality is that I will play until I see someone better than me. So I keep playing.“, sends the Swedish international.
Very hard to predict the end of Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s career after this statement. The latter suggests that he still has a few years ahead of him and perhaps one last challenge to seek at the next World Cup. But nothing is done. Sweden will play their qualification against Poland this Tuesday (8:45 p.m.).
