Lithuania Congress Russia and Belarus from Interpol
Interpol.
According to Ukrinform, this is reported by Delphi.
“I would like to draw attention to the fact that Russia’s membership in Interpol, which does not comply with international law and order at all, does not matter. The same can be said about Belarus,” Bilotaite said after meeting with the head of Interpol, Jurgen Stock.
At the same time, she draws attention to herself that Lithuania respects the neutrality of Interpol and appreciates the concern about the introduction of stricter control over the Moscow national central office. Although there is no provision in the Interpol Constitution to expand the country’s membership in this organization, Bilotite “is confident that there may be an approach if it is approved by the world community.”
Two weeks ago, Interpol announced restrictions for Russia to significantly enter information into the Interpol system. It was decided to receive such information.
With regard to Russia’s war in Ukraine, Interpol stated that there would be strict neutrality, however, it would increase control over the Moscow office in order to exclude the possibility of abuse by Interpol. Stock clarified that the organization must remain neutral, except in cases where it could become infected.
The head of Interpol also said that they are pursuing in Russia and Belarus the likelihood that it will probably investigate and prevent a pandemic. At the same time, he noted that individual countries make political decisions and do not regulate with Russia and Belarus without sending them data.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Martial law has been introduced in Ukraine and general mobilization has been declared. The country is fighting back against the invaders.
After the outbreak of the war, Russia was limited by large-scale and comprehensive sanctions from the international community.
