ASVEL eliminated, Monaco survives Norris Cole

Less than 24 hours after playing the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne and AS Monaco traveled to Traloze but recorded opposing results in the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France.
Kenny Kadji made the winning buzzer-beater by sending BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque to victory, 79-78, against Villeurbanne on Saturday evening. The experienced big man finished with 20 points. Jeremiah Hill picked up 27 points, five rebounds and four assists at Arena Loire.

Villeurbanne gained 17 points early in the second half but couldn’t resist the quick turnaround after the home loss to Olympiacos on Friday night. Chris Jones scored a team-high 18 points in the losing effort. Marcos Knight after his injury against the Reds has been sidelined along with Paul Lacombe and Kostas Antetokounmpo.
Monaco also squandered a double-digit lead but weathered the storm in the fourth period to defeat JL Bourg, 74-65. Paris Lee generated 16 points, three assists, three rebounds and two steals. Donta Hall and Danilo Andjusic added 12 points each. Dwayne Bacon, Will Thomas, Alpha Diallo, Donatas Motiejunas and Mike James are absent.
In his Bourg debut, two-time NBA champion Norris Cole, who fueled the comeback bid, finished with a game-high 19 points and also recorded five assists. His team going 13-1 generated a 61-59 lead in the fourth quarter. The team coached by Sasa Obradovic recovered to advance to the next round.
Basketball Champions League quarter-finalists SIG Strasbourg held on to knock out co-leader Betclic Elite LNB Pro A Boulogne Metropolitans 92 with a 95-87 win. Gaylor Curier scored 16 points and Kameron Taylor followed with 15 points.
Opening the four-game schedule, Elan Béarnais Pau-Lacq-Orthez defeated Fos-sur-Mer, 93-72. Dominique Archie and Gregor Hrovat shared a team best 12 points. Brandon Jefferson, Justin Bibbins and Giovan Oniangue added 11 points each.

The third match in as many days for Monaco will be against Strasbourg and BCM will collide with EBPLO at the Arena Loire tomorrow Sunday. The final will take place in Paris on April 23.
