Vaucluse. The program of the Avignon festival unveiled

The programming is reminiscent of the drama that unfolds 3 hours flight from Paris. This year the Avignon Festival will be opened with a Russian, and closed by Ukrainians.
The Russian director and filmmaker Kirill Serebrennikov will present on July 7, 2022 in the Cour d’honneur of the Palais des Papes The Black Monk, the adaptation of a short story by Anton Chekhov. This choice, reminded the director Olivier Py, was well made before the start of the war in Ukraine. For now, the artist is forbidden to leave Moscow, sentenced in 2020 for embezzlement. A political act for his supporters when he is known for his pro-democracy and LGBTQ + positions.
Miss Knife well present
the festival directorwho will hang up next year, will close the edition transformed into Miss Knife, that cabaret singer that he loves so much. with the famous Ukrainian punks Dakh Daughters and the Beninese Angelique Kidjo, they will replay this show which has worked so well at the off edition of the 2021 festival.
The former director of the Théâtre national de l’Odéon will also embark on one of these theatrical marathons which he is used to. He plays Ma jeunesse exaltée, for ten hours, on the “dialogue between a young harlequin and an old poet”, according to him.
In all, 46 glasses will also be presented, two-thirds will be dance and theater creations 2022. the public will be able to listen to 30 readings, 70 debates and explore two exhibitions. The youngest could be entertained with the three proposals for young audiences.
