It still won’t be this time. Brothers Baptist and Sylvester Guyonnet will not face each other on Saturday March 26, 2022 more than they have done for the last decade. Baptiste and Sylvestre have been crisscrossing the lawns of Normandy for many years. In theory, they should be able to play against each other ten times. In fact, because of injuries, suspension or Covid, it only happened once. That was over ten years ago.
Only one game 12 years ago
In 2009-2010, the confrontation between Malherbiste Sylvestre and Avranchinese Baptiste ended in a draw in the CFA (0-0). Their father Bernard’s wish had been granted. “If they face each other, I pray that they draw,” smiles the Stade Malherbe defender. The following season, Sylvestre had joined Baptiste in the South Channel. The two men had found the third of the Guyonnet brothers, Camille, in the Coupe de France. On Saturday, the youngest will observe his brother and the other protagonists from the stand of the Venoix stadium. Too bad, “they were happy to meet again”.
We will still have to wait to see the Guyonnet brothers scrap in the midfield, where the two men will be direct opponents. “He knows he’s going to play against me so he’s scared,” Baptiste valve. “I know him, Baptiste succeeds in getting Sylvestre out of his hinges, bounces Bernard. It’s not so bad that they don’t play against each other, they would be able to beat each other. They are fighters, winners. »
Otherwise, we will have to play together again
At 38 and 32, opportunities are going to become rarer. What if they opted instead for the idea of playing together? They only did it for two years in Avranches, between 2010 and 2012, when they often reported the same clubs offbeat (La Butte, ASPTT Caen, Malherbe, Cherbourg). “They were happy, remembered Bernard. They got along well on the field. “And for Pascale and Bernard, the parents, it was easier to choose sides…
