Police shoot at vehicle control – arrest
Because occupants of a car are believed to have handled a gun and a knife, the police took drastic measures during a check and fired warning shots. There were several arrests.
In Taufkirchen near Munich, a police patrol fired warning shots during an arrest on Thursday. As the police reported, the officials wanted to check a suspicious vehicle with three men on a federal highway. The police officers had the impression that there was an altercation between the occupants of the moving car.
After stopping, the police officers noticed that the two passengers were armed with a gun and a knife, according to a police spokesman. They are also said to have resisted arrest. According to initial findings, one of the police officers fired several warning shots into the air. Ultimately, the co-drivers were arrested with the support of another patrol.
The passenger had probably previously attacked the driver. The driver was injured and taken to a hospital. The background to the argument was initially unclear. The exact identity of the three men and the relationship between the vehicle occupants has not yet been determined. It still has to be clarified whether the vehicle occupants had a live firearm.
