Luciana Savignano Lifetime Achievement Award in San Marino
Lifetime Achievement Award for the great étoile Luciana Savignano on April 8 at the Titano Theater on the occasion of the San Marino Dance Festival, the three days of full immersion in dance. It will be she herself who will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award that will be awarded to her on the Stage of the Titano Theater on the occasion of the first edition of the San Marino Dance Festival. It is three days of full immersion in the different dance techniques and styles that will see the Republic of San Marino the beating heart of the dance from 8 to 10 April. Three days in which the students followed by masters of international standing, coordinated by Maurizio Tamellini, artistic director and creator of the Festival, together with Guendalina Fazzini.
Luciana Savignano was born in Milan on November 30, 1943. Charismatic figure and star of Italian dance in the world, despite a classical-academic training at the Ballet School of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan and the specialization at the Bolshoi in Moscow, from the very beginning he distinguished himself for its particularities and it reveals itself inimitable and inimitable in an absolutely personal artistic path. Her charming and enigmatic face with oriental features, her sensual and supple body with long lines, inspire choreographers, first of all the famous Mario Pistoni who chooses her to interpret the Marvelous Mandarin, a ballet that consecrates her to the world of dance.
In 1972 she became prima ballerina at La Scala and in this period she was noticed by Maurice Béjart who invited her to the company “Du XXème siècle” where she played the Ninth Symphony; is the beginning of a long and fertile artistic union: Béjart creates for her “Leda and the Swan”, “Ce que amour me dit” with Jorge Donn, “La Luna”, “Duo”, “Romeo and Juliet” , “Buaki”, “Il Bolero” by Ravel. She consolidates and expands the repertoire ranging from “Swan Lake” to “Taming of the Shrew” and “Cinderella”.
In March 1994 Maurice Béjart created for her “La Voce” based on La Voix Humaine by Jean Cocteau. Also in 1994 he began a close collaboration with Micha Van Hoecke: “A la memoire” (Mahler), “Carmina Burana” (Orff), “Orfeo” (Stravinsky).
Alongside unforgettable partners, he collaborates with the most important choreographers including Micha Van Hoecke with whom he begins another long artistic partnership that will give life to A la memoire, Orfeo, Carmina Burana, Passage, L’oiseau de mon dernier amour and the production of the Ballet of Milan Mandarino Meraviglioso of which he is the protagonist with Denis Ganio.
Also important is the collaboration since 1995 with Susanna Beltrami who for her creates Blu Diablo, La lupa, Jules and Jim, Tango di Luna, Her name… Carmen.
Luciana Savignano with Susanna Beltrami founded the Pier Lombardo Danza Company in 1998.
Versatile and multifaceted Luciana Savignano was also the protagonist of the prose work The Hotel of Two Worlds by Eric E. Schmitt.
