Home series extended: Red Bulls win 4-1 against Nuremberg

Successful start in a four-pack at home: Red Bull Munich won 4-1 (2-0 | 1: 1 | 1-0) against the Nuremberg Ice Tigers. In front of 1,514 spectators in the Olympic Ice Stadium, Ben Smith, Austin Ortega, Maximilian Kastner and Trevor Parkes scored the goals in Munich’s fifth home win in a row.

The Red Bulls set the pace from the start and converted their first big chance in the 3rd minute: Smith used the space in front of the goal and beat his team’s lead. A little later, after a pass from Yasin Ehliz, Ortega was alone in the field and completed his solo with the goal to make it 2-0 (9th minute). Nuremberg increases afterwards. Andrew Bodnarchuk had the best chance of scoring the goal just before the break in the first third, but Henrik Haukeland couldn’t get past Henrik Haukeland.
In the middle section, Nuremberg’s Blake Parlett had the first top-class goal, the defender put the puck on the crossbar (23rd). The guests were better in the game, but Munich also scored the third goal of the duel: Kastner made it 3-0 with a backhand (25th). Shortly thereafter, Dennis Lobach’s shot was saved for the second time (26′) for the Red Bulls, who then set the tone again. Don Jackson’s team with some remarkable combinations and top opportunities by Ortega (27th) and Frederik Tiffels (29th). However, the Ice Tigers had the last word in the second period: Chris Brown gave Haukeland no chance 50 seconds before the siren and reduced the deficit to 3:1.
Nuremberg tried everything again in the final section, but the Red Bulls defended resolutely and followed up in the 47th minute: Parkes refined Tiffels’ impressive assist on a power play. After that, both teams had good chances. Haukeland was there against Brown (52nd), on the other hand, Frank Mauer (59th) missed the fifth goal. So it stayed with the deserved 4-1 win for Munich.
