Meteo France’s response
An anticyclone between Paris and Moscow ensures mild temperatures and sunny skies over the whole of France. It’s spring ! But why is it hotter in Lille than in Marseille?
If global warming is indeed observed: the average annual temperatures in 40 years in Lille, for example, are only rising (as well as in Hauts-de-France in general), it is not a question here of that.

An anticyclone over Europe, which extends from Paris to Moscow, ensures the absence of depression in the area. In addition, a light wind from east to northeast (continental), traditionally cold and dry in winter, ensures mild temperatures during this period at the end of March, when the sun begins to show itself warmer.
“The sun heats the ground between Moscow and Paris, especially in Germany, and this mild air is carried by the weak wind towards France. In Marseilles, the flow is from the south and the Mediterranean Sea is still fresh, the air does not no time to warm up before reaching the coastal town”, explains a weather forecast from Météo France. CQFD.
“Currently, the maximums of the last 5 days are 18° to 19°, that is to say worthy of the temperatures of Aix-en-Provence in mid-April”, he continues.
In addition, it should be noted that the month of March 2022 is the 3rd driest for 100 years in Abbeville, where readings have been taken since 1922 and the 3rd driest since 1944 in Lille-Lesquin, date of the first local readings .
“Normally, in March we have 58 mm of rain in Lille, in March 2022: 5 mm. And in Abbeville 57 mm of rain on average, this year 6 mm. The driest month of March being that of 1953 with 2, 8mm of water.”
As for discounts, if it should no longer rain in Hauts-de-France by the end of the month (ensuring the previous figures), the temperatures should be displayed from Saturday, slowly. To see I hope here.
