Debate, Fishing quotas | Russian ownership in Norway
There is a lot of foreign ownership in Norway. The wind power industry has mainly foreign ownership – mostly German. China owns part of the Norwegian mountains, via the fact that they own parts of Norwegian hydropower resources. Many large Norwegian companies have been sold out of the country. On the whole, the situation is very sad. And very disturbing.
In recent times, the world has had an abrupt awakening – Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Then it is natural to look at what Russians own in Norway. And here I think many will get backwards. Russian oligarchs have ownership of up to 30% of Norwegian fishing quotas! This is dramatic in peacetime – and even more dramatic in wartime! Here, many small Norwegian fishing vessels fight for their daily income – and then the Norwegian authorities have slept – while Russians own up to a third of our fishing resources!
It is typical Norwegian politics to lull oneself into a world that does not exist. For many years, many governments have tacitly seen Norwegian interested parties own more and more foreigners. Our natural resources should be in Norwegian hands. It is not! As shown to large sections of foreigners, including Russians and Chinese!
This must be reversed – there is no doubt about that! Norwegian fishing resources, hydropower resources and restricted areas for wind power and other activities – should be nationalized! And as soon as possible. Otherwise we can stay as tenants and homeowners in our own country!
