More than 1,700 volunteers help at the border
Volunteers help sort humanitarian aid, provide information or entertain children. “They have linked to existing collections, public calls or social networks and are helping where they are needed. Organizations are also thinking about the near future and are already recruiting or planning to admit Ukrainian children and young people directly to their leisure centers and to involve them in activities.” “ says RmS director Juraj Lizák.
Youth organizations operate on a volunteer basis and use their own resources, or create crisis budgets from declining government subsidies each year. “They agree that they could help the future more systematically and work with Ukrainian children and youth, for example, to help the state in the form of a system, security, money. It would be the opening of grants to support the integration of refugees into society.” said Virostková.
The Youth Council of Slovakia is a non-profit organization uniting 27 youth organizations in Slovakia.
