Fridays For Future: Climate protection is peace policy
The environmental activists call for a climate strike on March 25 in Innsbruck.
On March 25th, Fridays For Future will take to the streets in Innsbruck on the occasion of the “Global Climate Strike”. Under the motto “People Not Profit”, people are demonstrating for global crisis management and a climate policy that puts human lives before economic profits.
The protest movement, which brought almost 20,000 people onto the streets in Innsbruck alone in 2019, will run from the market square through the city center via the triumphal gate to the Landestheater at 1 p.m. From 3:00 p.m. there will be an extensive program of speeches and music and active action is required because the new report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) shows even more clearly than before that climate change is having dramatic consequences for humanity.
In view of the war and the suffering of the people in Ukraine, FFF also wants to draw attention to the fact that the climate crisis and violence in Ukraine are intertwined: “Russia’s aggression can only be prevented by selling gas and oil. A consistent exit from fossil fuels not only helps the climate, but also paves the way for peace in the long term,” says Pauline Holz from the FFF Innsbruck.
