“Creating our future: creativity and cultural heritage as strategic resources for a diverse and democratic Europe”
The Steering Committee for Culture, Heritage and Landscape (CDCPP) and the Italian Ministry of Culture are organizing a Conference of Ministers of Culture in the framework of the Italian Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.
The event will take place in a hybrid format (Strasbourg/online) on April 1, 2022.
The conference will examine in depth the challenges and opportunities of digital technologies for European cultural policy, cultural heritage standards and audiovisual practices, addressing these topics in two main sessions:
- The consequences of developments in digital technologies, including AI, for the Council of Europe conventions on cultural heritage (Granada, Valletta, Faro and Nicosia) in order to enhance their usefulness as a single framework for action European Union and in the pursuit of sustainable development objectives;
- The specific challenges posed to creativity, diversity and pluralism by developments in AI and global digital players using predictive algorithms within the audiovisual industry, as well as the need to foster cultural diversity and participation culture in the digital environment and in creative production.
The ministerial conference on 1 April aims to encourage ministers to take the initiative and propose concrete measures to strengthen the European position through further international cooperation on specific guidelines which may modify existing conventions on cultural heritage. and on a new program of public financial support for European drama series. co-productions.
Various cultural events, including a show by Italian artist Quayola March 31 and two digital exhibitions [the new Council of Europe digital #exhibition “Free to Create, Create to be Free” and the work of the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes “Cultural Routes crossing Italy”] on April 1, will bring an additional flavor to this high-level conference.
