Ukraine has terminated agreements with Russian copyright organizations
In response to Russian aggression, the Ukrainian Copyright and Related Rights Agency terminated the agreement with Russian copyright organizations.
As Ukrinform reports, it is reported on the UACRR’s website Facebook.
“The Ukrainian Agency for Copyright and Related Rights has announced the termination of the agreement with the Russian Copyright Society (RAO) and the Association of Copyright Holders for the Protection and Management of Copyright in the Field of Art (UPRAVIS),” the statement said.
According to Valery Kharchyshyn, Director General of the UAACP, the organization unilaterally terminates the international agreement with RAW. “This means that more than 7 million hryvnias in royalties of the occupiers, which we would have to pay to the Russian buffoons under an international agreement, will be frozen at the expense of our organization,” he said.
Kharchyshyn also called on Ukrainian publishers, including Best Music and Comp Music, to terminate existing agreements with Russian record companies and publishers in order not to support the aggressor’s criminal rule.
According to the UACRR, Ukraine has already been supported by many foreign representative offices and organizations. They help in the fight against the aggressor in their field: they create financial aid funds, actively promote Ukrainian music and collect signatures of famous authors from around the world against the war.
