Russian invasion of Ukraine, San Marino supports the resolution of the Interparliamentary Union

There will be two resolutions on which the delegates will discuss: “One concerning ‘The approach of countries to peace processes in order to promote lasting peace’ and one concerning ‘The use of technology as an enabler for the factor of ‘education, even in times of pandemic’ “.
Work began on March 21 with a greeting from the President of the Interparliamentary Union, Duarte Pacheco, and the members of the delegation “took part in the work of the Peace and Security Commission”. In this forum, “our participation has the delegation of the people of the Parliament and of the San Marino for the escalation of conflicts in various parts of the world, including Europe”.
In the context of sustainable development, the San Marino delegation “took the floor to represent how our Republic also had to rethink the methods of teaching teaching with the introduction of the distance teaching approach during the health emergency, which required new and more modern IT devices both in schools and at home “. Thanks to public funds and private donations, “a considerable number of new devices, PCs and other support equipment have been purchased and lent to the needy were made available to students”.
According to the Unesco statistical institute, “it is estimated that, before Covid-19, over 600 million children and adolescents did not reach minimum levels of proficiency in reading and mathematics despite going to school and that about 53% of children in low- and middle-income countries cannot read competently by the age of 10, a phenomenon that the World Bank has defined as ‘Learning Poverty’ ”. With the closure of schools due to the Covid-19 pandemic, “hundreds of millions of children have gone to school even for prolonged periods, further worsening the situation”.
On the same day, during the general assembly, “the point of urgency concerning the situation of the aggression in Ukraine was approved”. The debate and subsequent approval of the resolution “are scheduled for Tuesday 22 March”.
