Stephan Salger threw money at an interview
Munich – On the 31st matchday of the 3rd division, 1860 Munich suffered a bitter 0:3 defeat at Waldhof Mannheim.
1860 captain Stephan Salger then gave an interview to “Magenta Sport” when a scandal broke out. The 32-year-old defender was thrown with coins by fans of the hosts during the interview.
“I don’t know if it has to be that money is being thrown at me here,” Salger said in an interview. “Magenta” reporter Thomas Wagner was also angry at the action of the Mannheim fans: “We are being thrown at from the Waldhof block. Really antisocial, you have to clearly state that.”
After the coin scandal: 1860 coach Köllner refused an interview
Wagner reacted with incomprehension to the coin scandal, mainly because of the way the game went in favor of Mannheim: “I can’t understand that: my own team wins 3-0, it’s a great football day and then something like this happens. Totally unnecessary! And there were actually several who ejected here from the grandstand”
According to the “Abendzeitung”, after word of the unfair action by the Mannheim fans got around among the players and support staff of 1860 Munich, coach Michael Köllner decided not to return to the field for an interview. After the final whistle, he went straight into the Bayern dressing room.
Salger will only play for 1860 Munich until the end of the season. The veteran then switched to the second team at 1. FC Köln, where he also trained.
