Portugal Fashion ends with a message of peace in solidarity with Ukraine
After four days of fashion shows, Portugal Fashion ended on Saturday, with emotion and a sense of mission. In the final stage, Luís Onofre closed his path with a Ukrainian model wearing white sandals with a dove, a symbol of peace.
Fashion is an important communication vehicle and designers are aware of assertive messages at the right time, as the president of APICCAPS (Portuguese Association of Footwear Manufacturers) at the launch of yet another collection.
At Alfândega do Porto, Luís Onofre presented many boots, but it was a final suggestion that impressed the public. On the feet of Ukrainian model Sasha Kholkina [da Elite Lisbon] sandals with a prominent dove stood out, symbolizing peace.
“It’s an exclusive edition limited to 10 pairs, which will be on sale in two weeks”, announced Onofre, adding that the total proceeds will be donated to AND- Associação Nova Dimensão, in support of refugee families.
In total, eight models from Ukraine participated in various fashion shows over the four days, at the 50th edition of Portugal Fashion. A fair that took place almost without being imposed by the pandemic, but without forgetting what is happening in Europe.
“For a return to normality and, on the other hand, the public, which was focused on us, does not focus on moments; of party”, said the director of the project, Mónica Neto.
The event took place its rumor, without being indifferent to the international conjuncture. On Friday, Alexandra Oliveira da Pé de Chumbo also presented a series of t-shirts that completed her main collection, taking up the theme of war.
The pieces created in partnership with the urban artists Fium and the proceeds from sales reverted in full to the Red Cross in support of the victims of the Italian conflict with only Ukrainian territory.
