It is difficult to offer quality solutions at ever lower costs for the Public Administration
PISA – It is the lifeline in everyday life and in the emergency, in every critical phase, from Covid to the serious humanitarian situation unleashed by the war in Ukraine. Now this world, volunteer assistance, is asking for help.
The assembly of the sixteen Public Assistancies of the Anpas area of Pisa met on Thursday 17 March in Pontedera (Pisa). Main topics covered, the Ukraine emergency (the first load for Romania left Galleno in the province of Pisa today) and the 118 services, for the association with “growing costs that are no longer sustainable for volunteering. Especially for those associations that carry out numerous services on the road, the backbone of the socio-health system of the Tuscany Region, a cause above all of the cost of fuel – underlines the coordinator of the Pisan area Anpas Graziano Pacini – The assembly then examined the conditions of the voluntary world, severely tested by the combined effects of Covid and by the higher costs, especially for the expensive fuel, now aggravated by the war “.
Meanwhile, the amount of work grows even more for the world of assistance associations, which support greater aid from the Local Health Authority and the Region. “In the meantime, the needs of the people, as well as the services that are requested by the institutions, sometimes due to the management shortcomings of the system and strong inhomogeneities in the three large regional areas of the ASL – remarks the Pisan coordinator Anpas Pacini – It is days, in fact , the 118 request for the doubling of a Bravo service on Pisa, or two ambulances h24 from 1 April, and currently there is one alternating with the Misericordie, due to logistical and organizational difficulties in the hospital area, which the Public Assistance of Pisa is unable to satisfy. For this reason, not wanting to back down anyway, we asked for the contribution on the net, already in use for many other services, of our other associations that will decide shortly “.
For Pacini, “Our Anpas movement, at all levels by its nature and history, will never fail in its ethical code and solidarity with the weakest, it will always try to regenerate itself with the pure and genuine spirit of voluntary work that clearly stands out from other management forms of citizen services, more suitable for companies or cooperatives with which, moreover, one often interacts. It is therefore not respectful for volunteering, on the political-institutional side, to always expect quality solutions at lower costs for the public administration, without giving answers to face the sometimes devastating effects of external factors. We expect, and we claim it with dignity – is Pacini’s appeal – a common sensitivity with the Region and the Local Health Authority in the primary interest of our communities, so that some form of relief for the extra costs we have to bear is also recognized in volunteering.
The assembly is confident that the three main components of Tuscan volunteering, Anpas, Misericordie and the Red Cross, will be able to obtain adequate responses, from the right political-institutional levels up to the central government, in order to safeguard the integrity of their role for the future and of function of this indispensable common good “.
