Locusts – Basel 2:4
Grasshopper Club Zurich is still waiting for their first home win since October 2nd, the spectacular 5-2 win over St. Gallen. The Hoppers lost 4-2 against Basel after a 2-1 lead.
In this last home win almost half a year ago, Bendeguz Bolla secured victory for GC with the goal to make it 4:2. Since then, the 22-year-old Hungarian Bloss has scored again: in a 2-2 draw with the Young Boys. On Sunday he didn’t exactly score an own goal, but he did make the all-important mistake.

Bolla lost the overview in the 52nd minute. He was not under pressure after a long Basel ball. He could have promoted the ball to the goalie or out. His attempt to add something creative resulted in a perfect template for Adam Szalai, the 34-year-old Hungarian in the FC Basel ranks. Striker Szalai didn’t let himself be bitten twice and gave FC Basel the lead for the second time in the game.
Szalai finally became the match winner in the 79th minute when he then volleyed a free kick from Valentin Stocker to 4:2. In the winter break from Mainz, Szalai scored four goals in the first 390 minutes for Basel.
And the locusts? It doesn’t show bad performance. They turned an early 0-1 deficit through Kaly Sène (FC Basel player on loan) and Hayao Kawabe into a 2-1 and, after conceding the unfortunate goal, they vigorously won the equalizer to make it 2-3. Nevertheless, in the end there was still a lot missing to score.

Lugano-Lausanne 3-1
Lugano wins the fourth win from the last five Super League games against an overwhelmed Lausanne-Sport and draws level with third-placed YB. The tail light from Lake Geneva is after the 1: 3 in Ticino nine games before relegation.
For half a half, Lausanne-Sport kept the score open in the spring sunshine of southern Switzerland. 25 minutes later, the Vaudois without a win since November had to be happy that they were not three lengths behind. In the 42nd minute, Mory Diaw parried a somewhat controversial hand penalty from Zan Celar and thus prevented the 0:2 that came shortly afterwards before the break whistle.

Ex-FCZ captain Kevin Rüegg, on loan from Hellas Verona with an option to buy, served Numa Lavanchy the second goal in added time with a formidable through ball on a silver platter. Mattia Bottani made it 1-0 after Armel Zohouri produced a fatal bad pass in Lausanne’s build-up.
As the game progresses, Lugano shifts down a gear. Mainly because of this, Lausanne came back with a remarkable volley from Zeki Amdouni, but Ignacio quickly restored Aliseda Lugano’s two-goal advantage with fifteen minutes to go.

The teams put on a spectacular, fluid match in the first half, without the excessive harshness seen in rival clubs’ play. In the second half the party was much less substantial. A few players clashed seconds before the end. Referee Stefan Horisberger warned two hotheads.
