″I am sorry to be representing Portugal in this discipline″
Abdel Larrinaga reached the semifinals of the 60 meters hurdles of the indoor track and field athletics World Cups in Belgrade.
The Portuguese Abdelrinaga said this Sunday that the final was confirmed, after his season of reaching the 6 meters of the World Hurdles on an indoor track, in Belgrade.
After running the qualifiers in 7.69, two hundredths of a second off his personal record (7.67), the Portuguese barreirista was 22nd among the 24 semifinalists with 7.70, failing to beat the record national (7.64).
“[O recorde] It didn’t fall, but I feel content, because I think it’s been a long time since there’s been a barrier in the semi-finals of a World Cup. I also feel very sorry to be representing Portugal in this discipline. I will be very happy with my covered track, as the goals were met by percent, because we didn’t have 1 goal to crash in Portugal”, he said.
Even the current record would not be enough to reach the end of the 60 meters of national barriers. The last ones were the Spanish Asier Martínez (7.55) and the British David King (7.57), the latter in a draw after the draw with the Japanese Shusei Nomoto (7.57).
Larrinaga considers that this “was a productive winter season”, assuring that he will “work for the summer”, which he believes “will be a little better”.
“Without summer, [quero] enter the World. And always go out and do my best and represent Portugal 100%, as I have done so far”, she assured.
