Zelenskyj calls on Switzerland to freeze Russian assets and accounts at their banks
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called on the Swiss Confederation to freeze the assets and accounts of Russians who have started a war against Ukraine.
The President of Ukraine made the relevant statement in his video address to the Swiss people.
“Just as I want Ukrainians to live like Swiss, I want you to be and become like Ukrainians who fight against evil. So that there are no questions about banks, your banks, where the money of all those who started this war is kept. It’s painful and uncomfortable, but it’s also a fight against evil, the ability of these people to freeze their accounts; it is necessary. It’s a great fight and you can do it,” said Zelensky.
He also stressed that it is unacceptable for foreigners to do business in the Russian Federation and stressed that Swiss Nestle continues to do business in Russia.
“I want you all Swiss to become Ukrainians now like all of us! I want you and us not to lose our common chance now, a chance to end all wars in the world,” Zelenskyy noted.
The President of Ukraine thanked the Swiss for their support of Ukraine and for not staying away.
“There is no denying that in the 21st century hundreds – you here, that is true – hundreds of rockets and bombs are being fired at peaceful cities in the heart of Europe. It is impossible to stay away when the army of the largest country for its size is concentrating all its lethal potential on destroying us, destroying hospitals, public schools, churches, universities and residential areas. It’s impossible to remain indifferent when they kill children,” Zelensky stressed.
A reminder that on February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, starting a war. Russian troops shell and destroy key infrastructure, launch rocket attacks on residential areas in Ukrainian towns and villages, and kill civilians.
