Munich (dpa / lby) – According to the President of the Jewish community in Munich and Upper Bavaria, Charlotte Knobloch, anti-Semitism has “downright established” in Germany. “Unfortunately, it hasn’t gotten better over the years, but the situation has worsened dramatically,” said Knobloch of the “Main-Post” (Saturday edition). Anti-Semitism “today not only from the right, but also from the left and from the Islamist milieu – and anti-Jewish statements are usually not just said, but come out of conviction”. Dealing with it is a “task for society as a whole”.
But she also experiences “a new openness” when she visits schools, for example, emphasized the former president of the Central Council of Jews in Germany. They “feel that young people are more interested and informed than their parents’ generation, for example”. In the fight against anti-Semitism in education, however, it is “above all dependent on the parental home”.
