Friends say Phoenix sisters missing in Switzerland have been confirmed dead
PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) – Phoenix sisters, who were originally reported missing after failing to return home from their trip to Switzerland, are dead, according to an update from friends. In a Facebook post Friday night, the friends say they are receiving the confirmation have that dr. Lila Ammouri and Susan Frazier have died.
“We are saddened to announce that we have received confirmation of the deaths of our dear friends Lila and Susan. While we greatly appreciate all of the support that has been shown to us throughout our search, we ask for privacy for her family and friends as we mourn this terrible loss. We will not be making any further comments at this time. Thank you for all of your support,” Michelle Gab said in the Facebook post.
According to the Facebook group, the sisters flew from Chicago to Switzerland on February 3 and were scheduled to return home on February 13. Friends in the group said the last time anyone heard from Ammouri and Frazier they were in Basel. Then friends found out the two had never checked in for their flight home.
Arizona’s family spoke to her brother, Cal Ammouri, on Friday. “She didn’t tell me anything, anything,” he said.
Cal lives in New York City and said he spoke to his sisters a few weeks ago. They didn’t even tell him about their planned trip. He says he found out about her disappearance when a friend called a few days ago. “Every day I look in the mailbox and wonder if maybe they’re going to get in touch with me in some way,” he said. “I love them both and I want them to come back,” he continued.
The Arizona family has contacted the Phoenix Police Department and the FBI for more information. No further details were released.
