Stora Enso is investing EUR 40 million in Skutskär’s mill in Sweden
Great Enso invests in carbon dioxide neutrality for its Skutskär mill in Sweden. This investment of EUR 40 million takes the next important step towards a climate-positive contribution by reducing energy consumption and water use and enabling a reduction in the use of bleaching chemicals. The mill is already very close to being carbon dioxide neutral as it has achieved 99% fossil-free production.
Skutskärs Bruk also participates in the EU-funded ACCSESS project where carbon dioxide is captured and stored using Bio-CCS technology. The first part of the newly developed process, coal separation, will be tested on a pilot scale at Skutskärs Bruk. The project will run for four years and pilot trials at Skutskärs Bruk are planned to start in early 2023.
Stora Enso has an ambitious goal of offering 100% regenerative products and solutions by 2050. As the largest manufacturer of fluff pulp in Europe, Skutskärs Bruk paves the way through continuous carbonisation of its operations.
Stora Enso’s Skutskärsbruk in eastern Sweden is a modern pulp mill with a focus on the production of fluff pulp for absorbent hygiene products such as nappies, other hygiene products and air-laid nonwovens.
